Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Burnley, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with possible extra fees for those under 25. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the selected vehicle category, is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Burnley office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable upon collecting the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please contact us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability. It's advisable to review these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess unless additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms is your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any other dangerous behavior. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Ensure you do not exceed passenger or weight limits, and refrain from driving outside designated geographic areas without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Burnley is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Local Regulations
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be settled exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.

These Terms may be updated periodically. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your agreement with the revised Terms.
